Tips & Tricks to Creating a Cozy Home for Fall

We all love decorating our homes and creating a space that reflects us as individuals. We all also love decorating for the holidays and creating a warm, inviting space for all the family gatherings and holiday parties to be had. Creating a certain feel in your home revolves around the senses: how does your home smell? What textures are you using? What’s the color scheme? Keep these things in mind when creating a cozy fall vibe in your home. What smells can you use, textures can you incorporate, colors can you change up?

What’s that smell?

Scent is one of the most important elements of creating a cozy space. Choose a scent that is vanilla or cinnamon based to add instant warmth to your room. To add even more coziness, find a wood-wicked candle that crackles as it burns – it sounds just like a fire!

Update your color scheme.

The easiest way to bring fall into your home is by updating your color scheme. Switch out bright blues for a deeper teal, or bright whites for warmer creams. Incorporate jewel tones that will carry you throughout both the fall and winter seasons.

Light it up.

Who doesn’t love twinkly lights? They add an instant cozy vibe to any space, whether it is indoor or outdoor. Add some along the mantle of your fireplace, draped around a stair banister, or wrapped around your headboard. Put a strand of lights inside a glass lantern or mason jar to replace a lamp – it instantly refreshes your space and gives off much warmer light.

Roast some marshmallows.

Everyone loves gathering around a fire, so why not make it the focal point of your room for the colder months? Shift the conversation and hangout zone towards the fireplace by adding extra seating and rearranging your furniture. Make sure to roast some marshmallows and make some s’mores too!

Fuzzy everything, please!

Texture is an easy way to add instant coziness to your home. Place extra throw blankets around your home for guests to bundle up with during the colder months. Switch out your area rug for a fuzzy rug and add some fuzzy throw pillows to your couch. Cable knit is another good texture to incorporate into your home for the fall time.

Switch up your decor.

By far the easiest way to bring fall into your home is to add some seasonal decor. Mix pinecones and acorns into shelves, string garland along banisters and the mantle. The wood and earth textures will play off of the deeper color scheme and bring even more warmth to your space!

Now it’s time to curl up on the couch by the fire in one of the fuzzy blankets you placed with a warm mug of hot chocolate!
