NEIGHBORHOOD SPOTLIGHT: HILLSBORO VILLAGE

Hillsboro Village is one of Nashville’s most often looked over neighborhood, but home to many great hidden gems. Lining the streets of 21st Avenue are coffee shops, local shops, and some great food. Hillsboro is artsy, meets hipster, meets college, as it is nestled right between Vanderbilt and Belmont, and just down the street from Green Hills. Like most of Nashville’s other neighborhoods, there is something for everyone in Hillsboro Village.

COFFEE

Fido is the perfect mix of cozy and upscale. It’s a great place to hang out and get some work done (if the lights are on – the wifi is on!), catch up with friends, or refuel on caffeine during your jaunt around Hillsboro Village. Try one of their seasonal drinks, or order a classic.

Another great spot to check out is Revelator Coffee, a modern chain with stores sprinkled throughout the southeast. The shop is a mostly relaxed atmosphere with intricately created coffees. Stop by after work to unwind in a crisp space, with an inviting cup of coffee.

FOOD

In addition to excellent coffee, Fido (also known a Fetch) has a great selection of yummy bites to eat. Whether you’re grabbing a bite to eat while working, meeting an old friend for dinner, or stopping for food on your way home from work, Fido has a great selection of food from all-day breakfast, sandwiches and salads, to small snacks.

Double Dogs is a great place to meet up with friends after work to watch the game and grab a bite to eat with a cold beer or craft drink in hand. Known for their burgers, they also have several different french fry options to choose from as well!

Pancake Pantry and Biscuit Love are both Nashville staples. Whether it’s your first time in Nashville, you have friends visiting, or just want to be a tourist in your own city, these are both great places to dine for a yummy southern breakfast.

If it’s Wednesday, grab your closest girlfriends and head on over to Cabana: they feature a Girl’s Nite Out, with discounted drinks and appetizers. Cabana features an elevated, southern cuisine and is great for those girl’s nights, or any other night you want a fancy, southern dinner!

SHOPPING

Stop into Altar’d State to check out their in-store atrium full of greenery, fountains, and a huge skylight. It’s a great place to take a breather and escape the crowds. While you’re there, be sure to pick up one of their many Nashville trinkets, some boho clothing, or a cute collar for your dog!

Posh is the go-to for all things edgy. Situated on the corner across from the Belcourt, this is where you’ll find several lots of basics that you can mix & match with your entire wardrobe.

Based out of Dallas, Texas, The Impeccable Pig is a family owned business with a focus on giving back. Inside you’ll find plenty of clothing and accessories that are moderately priced, whether you’re looking for a LBD, or a new game-day outfit.

Perhaps the hidden gem of Hillsboro shopping is UAL. UAL is a men and women’s designer outlet full of clothing, accessories, and shoes. The idea behind UAL is offering designer brands at 70-90% off retail price. They have a staff of knowledgeable stylists who are sure to help you pick out some trendy pieces – at a price your wallet will appreciate!

THINGS TO DO

Located just a couple blocks off 21st avenue, Fannie Mae Dees Park is a great place to take a walk, let the kids play, or have a fun picnic. There’s a playground for the kids, plenty of green space to toss a Frisbee or kick around a soccer ball, and, of course, the infamous mosaic dragon statute.

If you’re looking for some competition, grab a group of friends and head into The Villager Tavern for a friendly game of darts or foosball – they’re actually known for being Nashville’s original dart bar and have leagues you can join! Sit back and relax with one of their many drink selections and watch some dart games, or join in on one of your own.

The Belcourt Theatre is a nonprofit striving to engage, enrich, and educate through film. Every year they host over 2,300 screenings, program over 300 movies, and feature several Q&A events with filmmakers and the like. Take a leap of faith and pick a movie from a filmmaker you’ve never heard of!
