From downtown to East Nashville, options for food lovers abound

Nashville has long been known as Music City, a place famous for live music and Southern hospitality. Lately, though, we’re becoming well known for something else: being a great town for foodies.

The restaurant scene has been growing, right along with everything else, and the array of options and the caliber of dining available is truly impressive. Nashville is constantly making national lists, like James Beard Award finalists and Best Cities for Food Snobs. Don’t let the foodie label fool you — you don’t have to love the fancy stuff to be a foodie. Basically, if you love to eat, Nashville’s got some restaurants for you.

A sampling of newer eateries in town includes:

Butchertown Hall, 1416 4th Ave., Germantown neighborhood. Modern, airy and with an industrial vibe, Butchertown serves up a cross between European — a nod to the neighborhood’s roots — and Tex-Mex. From knackwurst to lamb tacos, perfect for meat-lovers and food adventurers alike. Great house-made sodas, too.

Goozy, 4117 Hillsboro Pike, Green Hills neighborhood. A delightful little cafe with an emphasis on desserts like chocolate lava cake and s’mores as well as comfort foods like tomato soup and grilled cheese. They stay open late, so they’re perfect for a post-movie meal or a midnight snack attack.

Madeline, 1224 Meridian St., Cleveland Park neighborhood. This up-and-coming section of East Nashville is perfect for this combination laundromat and restaurant. The tiny, casual dining room lets you get to know your table mates while you enjoy chef’s specials and desserts like macarons or maple-bacon cheesecake.

Maybe yours is the neighborhood where you’re within walking distance of five different coffee houses. Perhaps you’d prefer to be close to fine dining with a sophisticated vibe. Or maybe you just want to be wherever your kids will be happiest, as long there are places they’ll enjoy, too. Whether you love trying new and exciting cuisine or are just as happy eating at Sonic, Nashville’s got something for every taste.
