Nashville, TN Charities: Giving Back This Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day ushers in the holiday season. It’s a day we all look forward to, not just for the feast that marks the occasion, but reconnecting with our family and friends. Giving thanks and counting your blessings always opens the doors to reflection and the spirit of the season. It’s a time for sharing with those near and dear to you, neighbors, acquaintances, co-workers, and your community.

Giving Back during Thanksgiving

Sharing your blessings with fellow Nashville area citizens in definite need is a lot easier than you might think. It isn’t the size or type of your donation that matters as much as the spirit of giving. Local churches and interfaith organizations are always thankful for donations, but there are other ways that you can give back to your community. The following charity organizations are an excellent place to give back this Thanksgiving.

Nashville TN Charities
by U.S. Dept. of Agriculture

Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee

Second Harvest welcomes your donation of food, money, and volunteered time. This is the Nashville area chapter of Feeding America, an organization that picks up where government programs end. Their mission is fighting hunger, but they also help those who want to help themselves learn new skills that can change their situation. They help children, seniors, and families in need.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville

Your local chapter welcomes your help as a project sponsor and a volunteer to further their vision of a Tennessee where a decent place to live is possible for everyone. Their mission is building better lives through homes for those who qualify, as well as affordable home repair supplies, and furnishings for safety and basic comfort.

Fifty Forward

Your donations of time or money will help provide meals to older low-income residents and senior citizens in the Nashville area. Fifty Forward is a local chapter of Meals On Wheels. Their mission is to enrich the lives of Nashville citizens aged 50 or older with healthy meals, life-long learning, and other life enrichment opportunities.
