Let’s be honest, decorating for the holidays is one of the best parts of the holiday season – aside from family time, of course! In order to prep for that family time, you have to spend some time getting your home festive and full of the holiday spirit. Here are some of our favorite ways to spruce up any space for the holiday time and throughout the upcoming winter months.
GARLAND
Whether it is a one made of greenery, pinecones, pom-poms, or snowflakes, garland is a great way to bring the holiday spirit into your home. Garland dresses up any space and makes it super festive! Wrap a garland of greenery with pinecones down your stair banister, add a garland of pom-poms across your mantle, or add a garland that has a fun, holiday saying along a bookcase or TV unit.
WREATHS
Wreaths are the ultimate holiday décor staple. They bring the festiveness you have inside to the outside of your home. Add them to your front door and windows to instantly give your home a holiday makeover. Whether it’s a wreath of greenery or a twig wreath, both bring holiday cheer. Add some lights to the wreath, pinecones, or other décor items and you’re all set for the perfect festive wreath.
LIGHTS
A strand of lights along a stair banister, mantle, or windowpane creates an instant warmth and coziness to your space. While lights are a great way to add coziness all year long, try adding weaving them along with a garland to make it more festive for the holiday season. Another great way to utilize lights during the holiday season is outside your home. Driving around at night with houses lit up on either side of you is a simple way to feel joy during this time of year.
CENTERPIECES
During the holidays we spend a lot of time around our tables, whether it’s for family dinners, a game night with friends, or wrapping presents. The art of table decorating should not be forgotten: add ornaments and sparkly twigs to a glass bowl for a pop of color; place pinecones and woodland creatures on a table runner for a forest theme; or add some small trees and other greenery for a lively vibe. Whatever you do, don’t forget to add candles – candles create an instant warmth and hominess!
