Event Post: Live on the Green 2014

If you’re new to Nashville – or you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past few years! – you may not know about one of the Music City’s true gems: the Live on the Green Music Festival. Let’s take a look at the upcoming 2014 edition of Live on the Green and see what this year’s installment of our popular music festival has in store.

Live on the Green 2014

What is ‘Live on the Green’?

While it is now one of Nashville’s premier music festivals, Live on the Green has come a long way from its humble beginnings. Initially conceived in 2009 as a series of free Thursday-evening concerts, the Lightning 100-produced affair has since hosted more than 200,000 music fans from more than ten countries. The festival regularly hosts emerging musical talent alongside well-known popular acts, providing exposure for Nashville’s up and coming local artists. The organizers and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that the festival’s many nights are conducted in an environmentally-friendly manner, and their approach to sustainability has won quite a bit of acclaim.

This Year’s Lineup is Looking Hot

Live on the Green 2014 will be conducted over a series of three Thursday evenings in August (the 14, 21 and 28) and capped off with a weekend festival on September 4-6. While dozens of acts will grace the stage throughout its run, major headliners include Cage the Elephant, The Head And The Heart, Capital Cities, City and Colour, Jake Bugg, Ingrid Michaelson, G. Love & Special Sauce and The Wild Feathers. The festival organizers have spread the headlining acts out throughout the six different evenings, ensuring that there’s something for everyone who wants to attend. Of course, since the price is free – how could you not?

Location, Parking and Accommodations

All of the six Live on the Green shows are held in Nashville’s Public Square Park. While festival-goers are highly encouraged to walk or ride a bicycle to the event, there is parking available in the garage directly beneath the park for a $3 fee. If you plan on driving, you’ll want to park as early as possible as these spots are limited and will go quickly. Alternate parking is available at LP Field in lots E and F (only!) for a cost of $5. If you choose to bring a bike, Walk/Bike Nashville will be providing free and secure valet bicycle parking which you can find at the corner of Union Street and 3rd Ave. N.

Upgrade Your Experience with VIP Lightning Lounge Passes

For those who want to upgrade their experience, VIP passes to the ‘Lightning Lounge’ can be had for $60 per evening, and backstage passes for $150. VIP pass holders receive complimentary catering, three beverage tickets, shaded lounging and viewing areas with open seating. Those with backstage passes will enjoy an exclusive backstage viewing area and private lounge as well.

Without question, Live on the Green 2014 is a music festival that can’t be missed. Check out full details on their official website! See you there!
